My summer of 2017 will be called, “my summer of fun!” It was my intention and goal to be present with my children and enjoy all there is to do in the summer. Annie is now three and does not need regular daily naps and Jack and Henry are at an age where they like to play and explore together. I knew it was a summer to enjoy and be present with this wonderful stage in our lives. As you read the next paragraph, you will agree we stayed busy and had lots of fun!
As I reflect back on the past couple of months, I am in awe of everything we have done. We have biked to parks, visited local libraries, swam at pools, went miniature golfing, attended a vacation bible school program, took swimming lessons, played little league baseball, attended yoga for kids at Sacred Heart, celebrated birthdays, played in our back and front yard, ate ice cream, created art and sang to Ed Sheeran (plus others) along the way. We have also explored some of the wonderful experiences of Central Iowa: Blank Park Zoo, Living History Farms, Arts Festival, Brenton Arboretum, National Balloon Classic, Iowa Cubs Game, Simon Estes Theater, and Jasper Winery Thursday night music. In addition to these experience we left Iowa and took our first family vacation to the Wisconsin Dells, Bellevue and Maquoketa caves. Plus a stop at the Omaha Henry Dorley Zoo during one of my many trips to Omaha for my yoga training. WOW! Like I said, it has been really fun and we have created some really wonderful memories. And the summer is still not over yet. I can’t forget the Iowa State Fair is next week.
These three children are the reason why my newsletter is a week late. I know with school starting in a couple of weeks, our schedules will change and we will get back into routine. There is a season for everything and I feel so blessed to have celebrated this summer with those I hold closest to my heart.
